We work alongside The Careers and Enterprise Company to provide bespoke work experience placements for KS 4 pupils, and to meet the Gatsby Benchmarks. We also arrange extended placements for those who have successful placements. Some pupils have gone on to gain employment with their placements.
We arrange visits to different local colleges. Individual learner’s transitions to Post-16 provision is catered for by arranging several visits to their agreed placement.
KS 4 pupils also follow the Gateway qualification ‘Developing Skills for Gaining Employment’.
The school participated in the Southend Council’s 60 Minute Mentoring Programme and has welcomed many inspiring speakers to talk about careers that are relevant to our pupils. We also work with Career Ready to help prepare our learners for the workplace.
Face-to-face advice and guidance for pupils and their parents/carers are arranged via the Connexions Advisors to find the most suitable post-16 next steps.
In KS 3, pupils have a stable careers programme. We offer each year group at least one encounter with a local employer to help broaden their understanding of the skills and qualifications needed to meet the requirements of local posts.
