As this is potentially the first time pupils have been taught in a Science Laboratory, the pupils are introduced to relevant safety rules. By linking the rules to everyday life, students also learn the importance of science as a result.
In key stage 4 students follow the OCR Science Entry Level course (R483) which ensures the National Curriculum is covered. The progress pupils make across the 2 years is recorded electronically for monitoring and reporting purposes, however every step of the way it is discussed with each pupil on how to take the next step to meet their personal target. During these two years the points that pupils will have accrued in topic tests, practical tasks and skills mastered, will make their final total and translate to their accreditation.
Key Stage 3 students will be taught a variety of interesting topics evenly distributed across Chemistry, Biology and Physics which following the national curriculum.
