School Improvement Priorities Overview 2024-2025
PRIORITY 1: CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
To review the English Reading curriculum to ensure the key aspects of decoding, fluency and comprehension are taught at appropriate levels across the school so that students are prepared for the next steps in learning and life.
PRIORITY 2: SEND DEVELOPMENT
To develop the range of our Speech, Language and Communication provision, by:
- Ensuring all members of staff understand the importance of Speech, Language and Communication and Speech, Language and Communication Needs
- Improving family support to know/understand their child’s speech, language and communication strengths and needs and how they can support them.
- To develop our dyslexia friendly environment so that St. Nicholas school achieves the British Dyslexia Association’s ‘Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark’ (this will take 2 years)
PRIORITY 3: MAT DEVELOPMENT
To review the capacity of the school building and facilities and the future capacity for increasing number of pupils, classes and complexity of needs the school can work with by:
- Developing on site post-16 provision
- Developing KS2 provision
