Our Curriculum

Careers Education & Guidance

We work alongside with the Careers and Enterprise Advisor Network who can provide valuable links with local business people to help engage our students in various ways to develop valuable insights into the world of work.

We use the Compass tool to monitor how well we are delivering the  Gatsby benchmark which helps identify strengths and areas for development of our provision.

In Key Stage 3 students have the opportunity to meet a local employer or representative of various industries. This helps to broaden the students understanding of the skills and qualifications needed for these careers.

Students in Key Stage 4 complete personal and social development that covers a selection of the following:

  • job exploration
  • skills/qualities needed in the workplace
  • job interview skills
  • work experience placement; putting together a CV
  • finding and responding to job adverts
  • understanding the concept of career
  • maintaining work standards
  • planning and participating in an enterprise activity and
  • Health & safety in the workplace.
