Our School Day

Our school day starts when students are welcomed into school at 8.55am and finishes when they depart at 3.05pm.

Each morning, we begin with a ‘soft start’ where students are offered breakfast and/or a cup of tea and encouraged to spend supervised social time interacting with their peers and staff as they prepare for their first lessons. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, this includes a 15-minute assembly in the school hall for KS3 and KS4 respectively.

The day is split into 10 30-minute sessions, but most subjects are taught across a double or triple session.

Students stay with their class teacher for English, Maths, PHSCE, RSE, RE, Geography and History lessons in their class basses. Students, with their LSAs, go to specialist lessons in other areas of the school. These include Science, ICT, PE and Art.

Each student is given a copy of their timetable at the beginning of the year and a visual timetable is displayed in the classroom and discussed each day, so students know what to expect from the day.

We split lunch into two sittings with KS3 eating in the School Hall between 1.15pm and 1.35 pm and KS4 doing the same between 1.35 pm and 1.55 pm
